The early years
It all began with TVL founder and Group Director Tony Powell. He started in the industry with a five-year motor technician apprenticeship, before showing his entrepreneurial side with a move into key-cutting services – a business that was to become the London East Security Centre. Partnering with the police to help move illegally parked cars saw Tony regularly having to find new and inventive ways to legally break into vehicles.
This process of identifying weaknesses in the system that he could exploit in order to get access to these illegally parked vehicles meant Tony became uniquely qualified in pre-empting potential avenues of vehicle attack.
This knowledge has proved invaluable to the whole TVL Security process – particularly when we now have an entire team of experts all focused on the same goal.
State-of-the-art tech
The innovation department, was a way for Tony to pass down his knowledge to the team.
There’s no better way to outsmart your enemy than to think like them, so that’s exactly what they do. The team are trained to think like thieves, looking at vehicles from every angle and trying to find a weakness in standard, factory-fit systems. Once they find a way in, they can work on closing the gap, giving you the most up-to-date developments in the form of our often-imitated, but never-bettered vehicle security products.
In an age of ever-growing sophistication among thieves, this approach is needed more than ever before. Long gone are the days of opportunistic vehicle theft, now we need to think harder, think smarter and think faster.
Top-flight concepts need top-flight tech in order to make them a reality, so our team designs and builds prototype products using the latest technology. This includes 3D scanning machines to match the exact contours of the van, as well as state-of-the-art 3D printers to build prototypes of our new products as quickly as possible.
Then the final stage is testing. Due to our investment in our dedicated testing rigs, we’re able to put all our vehicle security products through their paces in-house.
